Medical Boat Service Since 2003
The fast boats of Saaristolääkärit, Delta 340 SW and Sailfish 26, operate in a vast area of the Archipelago Sea (see service area map). The doctor boats serve all those traveling, vacationing, and living in the Archipelago Sea.
The principle of the doctor boat service is that the patient is examined and treated on-site in the archipelago, allowing the much-awaited summer vacation to continue uninterrupted, despite accidents or sudden illness. The service is provided as a house call upon request or according to a schedule at selected guest marinas.
Ordering the Medical Boat for a House Call
In acute illnesses (such as bleeding wound, respiratory or skin infection with fever, suspicion of eye, ear or urine infection, fever or fatigue without reason), we request you to order the medical boat for a house call by calling 0600-10033 (hours: Mon-Fri 10:00-20:00, Sat-Sun 10:00-18:00).
During the service season (June 20 – August 3, 2025), we can usually make house calls within 1-3 hours of the order. In life-threatening situations, please call 112 immediately!

In minor medical issues you are welcome to visit the medical boat´s drive-in clinic without an appointment (we encourage you to book a time or notify us in advance by calling 0600-10033).
The medical boat is equipped with a wide range of medications needed for the acute treatment of summer ailments (antibiotics, painkillers, etc.), a comprehensive stock of support aids, and a diverse selection of sterile instruments and equipment.
With these resources, the medical boat can treat:
- Accidents (wounds, sprains, and burns)
- Infections (skin, eye, ear, respiratory, and urinary tract infections)
- Laboratory tests (quick CRP, urine and blood sugar tests)
- Musculoskeletal problems (back, joint, etc.)
- Tick bites, wasp stings, and difficult skin reactions caused by insect stings
- Abdominal and gastrointestinal issues
- Follow-up visits for chronic illnesses
- Assessment and removal of moles and skin changes
- Removal of stitches
- Vaccinations for the whole family: tick-borne encephalitis (TBE), tetanus, pneumococcal, and shingles vaccines

Both house calls and marina drive-in visits are handled by doctors with extensive clinical experience, licensed in Finland. All our doctors are fluent in Finnish, Swedish, and English.
Procedures performed and care provided on the doctor boat are covered by KELA (Finnish social insurance) and insurance companies. Medical boat´s home visit bookings and phone consultations are available throughout the season, tel. 0600-10033 (1.97€/min + mobile phone charge).
The cost of a home visit depends on the time spent, travel costs, and any laboratory tests or supplies used, and can be agreed before the order.
